Welcome to E-Footprint
This early test version of the Maryland Environmental Footprint website allows you to see how Maryland State Government is measuring its environmental footprint – including carbon footprint (energy and fuel use), water consumption and waste/recycling.
The website that follows provides useful links to Tools for calculating your own carbon footprint, News that provides additional information relating to footprint reduction efforts in and around the region, and Success Stories that highlight how our efforts are paying off to reduce state government’s environmental footprint and impact on our natural resources.
One element included within the website is an interactive Chart that displays information describing the environmental footprint of the more than 100 State Agencies throughout Maryland. As this is an early test website, some of the information is incomplete. The Chart will be updated as more complete data becomes available.
Changes in energy consumption and its associated carbon footprint from one year to the next can be caused by several factors, including energy conservation actions, closing of existing facilities or opening of new ones, changes in operations that affect vehicle use, and differences in weather that affect the amount of heating and cooling for buildings.
Note: When agencies share a single building or have space in a building managed by the Department of General Services (DGS), the energy bills and the carbon footprint associated with them appear under the agency that pays the bill.
If you have any questions about the website, please Contact the Office (see link below) for further clarification.
